Celebrating Classes’ End Is a Cornellian Tradition We Heart the Hill: A Celebration of Beloved Campus Spots Take a Bough: Slope’s Iconic Tree Long Predates Ezra This year's Big Red rite of spring featured ecstatic crowds, musical headliners, carnival games, food, fun—and friends By Beth Saulnier More than 16,000 students—plus a couple hundred alums—attended the annual celebration marking the end of classes. The Slope Day throngs rocked to the beat of two big-name musical acts: headliner A Boogie Wit da Hoodie and special guest Flo Rida. In addition to the traditional music and socializing on the Slope, Cornell Dining served up tasty snacks, from pulled pork to tacos to vegan dogs. (And a beer truck was on site, serving suds to those of legal age.) Music and festivity could also be found at nearby Slope Fest. The occasion also featured Slope Fest, with carnival games, student bands, and other fun on Ho Plaza—plus Alternative Slope Day, offering free trips to (literally) learn the ropes at the Hoffman Challenge Course. And two days later, the Grateful Dead’s legendary performance at Barton Hall. It was quite a year.
